Todd Carey - Feel Good

The weight of the world is on everyone’s shoulders right now.  There’s a long list of things that contribute to this feeling.  That’s why music is more important than ever in these times.  We need a break from the madness, and I have just the cure!  (No, it’s not more cowbell...but not far off!)  Singer/songwriter, Todd Carey released a new album in the beginning of October called Feel Good, and let me tell you, it will definitely leave you feeling good after you take a listen.

If you’re not familiar with Todd Carey, you’re about to thank me for introducing him to you.  I’ve followed Carey for many years now, and not only is his smile and personality infectious, but his music has the same affect on you.  Todd Carey is a ball of energy and positivity that will have you craving for more.  In all of the years I’ve followed him and his music, I don’t think I’ve ever caught this guy without a smile on his face.  He’s the kind of person you want to be around 24/7.

Feel Good is an album full of songs about love, positivity, and picking yourself up through the struggles in life.  Each song is well produced and super catchy.  The album should come with a label, “Warning: may cause dancing, smiling, and lyrics replaying over and over in your brain.”  Even though you may not be in love at the time, the songs with a love theme are still so enjoyable that it won’t necessarily have you pining over the fact that you don’t have that special someone to think about while listening.

While it’s difficult to pick favorites on this album, there are a few highlights.  “Real Love” is the kind of song that would be replayed over and over again if the radio ever got their hands on it.  When you listen to the chorus, it’s as if you can picture Carey performing to a live audience (some day!) as the crowd sings along to every lyric.  “Rally” is the perfect anthem song with it feeling like Carey is right there next to you to pick you up and say, “Come on, let’s do this!”  It’s all about feeling defeated in life, but putting on that rally cap to win the battle over your struggles.  “Wanna Love” gives off an Al Green vibe with the electric guitar, bass, and a horns section with the most soulful of the tracks on Feel Good.  It’s one of those types of songs that has you saying, “Ohhh, that’s my jam!”  Carey signs off at the end of the album with the instrumental “Epilogue” where he showcases his skills on guitar.

After listening to Feel Good, it’s safe to say that Todd Carey is the king of catchy pop songs.  He’s like the friend you can call up any time of the day and is ready at the drop of a hat to go out for some good times.  His music will bring out that fun side and is always there to prescribe the much needed positive energy.  I dare anyone to try and listen through the whole album without grooving and moving at some point.  It will be hard to sit still and not sing along to every song on Feel Good.
